Aysegul Uner, MD, PhD


Aysegul Uner is Professor of Pathology in the Department of Pathology at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey. She received her MD from Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, in 1987, then studied for her PhD degree in microbiology and immunology at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY, USA, receiving her degree in 1992. She subsequently completed a pathology residency programme and a haematopathology fellowship at the same medical centre. Professor Uner has been working as a faculty member at Hacettepe University Department of Pathology and at the Hacettepe Cancer Institute since 1997. She became an associate professor in 1999 and was appointed Professor in 2005.

Professor Uner’s main academic interests are blood diseases, bone marrow and lymph node pathology, breast disease pathology, and molecular diagnosis methods. She is the author of many international publications, and has presented at national and international conferences in the field of haematopathogy. She is a member of a number societies, including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) and the European Association for Hematopathology (EAHP) , and serves as an active member of haematopathology commitees in the Turkish Society of Hematology and the Turkish Federation of Pathology Societies.
