Mine Hekimgil, MD


Mine Hekimgil is Professor of Pathology in the Department of Pathology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Izmir, Turkey; she is also Chair of the Department. Professor Hekimgil received her MD from Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, in 1985, and subsequently completed a pathology residency programme at the same university. She worked as a research fellow in haematopathology in the Department of Pathology at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY, USA, from 1993 to 1994. She has worked as a faculty member in the Department of Pathology of Ege University Faculty of Medicine since 1995.

Professor Hekimgil’s academic interest has focused mainly on the field of haematopathogy. She is a member of a number of international societies, including the European Society of Pathology (ESP) and the European Association for Hematopathology (EAHP), and works on haematopathology commitees of national societies such as the Turkish Society of Hematology and the Turkish Federation of Pathology Societies.

She has written or contributed to many peer-reviewed articles for both international and Turkish journals, including the Medical Journal of Ege University, the American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Nephron, Leukemia and Lymphoma, and the Journal of Clincial Neuroscience, among many others.
